Kate Middleton Prince William Wedding Anniversary: Kate’s Royal Wedding Gown Re-Visited

It’s been twelve months. And WHAT a twelve months. One Prince, and one Princess, 46 public engagements, five pairs of LK Bennett shoes, one dress previously worn by her Mum, over 4 million clicks on the mother-of-all-Kate-blogs, whatkatewore.com, and only two skirts.

When Prince William married Kate Middleton on 29 April, all eyes were on the young bride, who looked beautiful in a Sarah Burton designed outfit that was kept a secret until the day of the wedding. The dress was an English and French Chantilly lace gown designed by Burton (the Creative Director at Alexander McQueen), in addition to ivory duchesse satin shoes that were also handmade by the team at McQueen.

"The main point is that they look as if they're enjoying themselves," said Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine. "The first year of marriage is difficult for everybody and they've adapted to their role admirably."

People magazine has devoted the cover of its latest issue to the topic, citing palace sources in reporting that the couple has put plans for an upcoming trip to Africa on hold because the vaccinations Middleton would need are dangerous for a fetus.

The duchess has faced considerable pressure in her first year as she has eased into her increasingly public royal role, but she has avoided any missteps, seeming to have benefited from strong family support and good advice from palace professionals.
